BC Tourism Commission provides financial support to promote local events

The Butler County Tourism Commission met on Thursday, May 27, at the Butler County Arts Guild. After approving the minutes and treasurer's report, the commission listened to requests from non-profit groups for funding.

Rochester Mayor Martha Roe requested $2,000 for the Rochester Fall Festival. According to Roe, they have not been able to rent the community center, a significant source of their revenue for the festival, due to Covid-19 restrictions.

The Green River Museum, which draws people from other counties, requested $3,000. The Butler County Arts Guild, which holds the Sidewalk Chalk Festival, exhibits, classes, and entertainment, requested $1,500.

The commission had given the Green River Catfish Festival $2,500 in 2020 that was not used due to Covid-19 restrictions. Morgantown-Butler County Chamber of Commerce President Tristan Klein requested an additional $500 this year for the Butler County Fair.

All requests were approved by the Tourism Commission
