BC Softball: Week One Review

The Butler County High School Lady Bears open their 2025 Softball Season this week.  Due to weather, they were able to play three games. 

 

Lady Bears 0  Daviess Co. 18

Butler County fell to top-ranked Daviess County in an 18-0 loss on Tuesday.

Miley Franzell took the loss for the Bears. The starting pitcher went two and one-third innings, giving up 18 runs (10 earned) on 14 hits, striking out none and walking two.

Butler County turned one double play in the game.

Lady Bears 2    Owensboro 3

Butler County lost 3-2 to the Owensboro Lady Devils on Friday despite outhitting them eight to five. Miley Franzell, Maddie Jones, and Karrington Hunt each collected two hits. 

Both teams were strong in the circle. Owensboro's pitchers struck out six, while Butler County sat down four.

An error put the Lady Devils on the board at the bottom of the second.

A second error extended the Lady Devils' lead to 3-0 in the bottom of the third inning.

 Franzell took the loss for Butler County. The right-handed pitcher went six innings, allowing three runs (zero earned) on five hits, striking out four and walking one.

Taylor Smith and Hunt each drove in one run for the Bears. Franzell and Hunt each stole multiple bases. Butler County turned one double play in the game.

Lady Bears 7    Allen County Scottsville 17

Butler County had trouble keeping up with Allen County-Scottsville in a 17-7 loss on Saturday.

Miley Franzell took the loss for Butler County. The right-handed pitcher went three innings, giving up nine runs (two earned) on eight hits, striking out none and walking none.

Emmalin Mode, Franzell, and Karrington Hunt each collected two hits for the Bears. Jenna Tomes and Hunt each drove in two runs. Butler County turned one double play in the game.

Butler County will host Breckinridge County on Monday, March 24.
