BC Softball goes 3-1, runner-up in tournament at Johnson Central
The Butler County High School softball team had a productive trip east over the weekend, going 3-1 and finishing runner-up at the Mayfield Ice Creamier Battle by the Creek Tournament, hosted by Johnson Central High School in Paintsville.
On Friday, Butler County romped George Rogers Clark 16-1 in five innings. An explosive offensive performance was capped by a two-run homerun blast by Natoshia White. Pitcher Morgan Manning, who was named the Game MVP, turned in a stellar performance in the circle.
Butler County continued strong on Saturday, defeating Pikeville 11-1 in five innings. Manning was again named the Game MVP.
The Bears' second game on Saturday was a little closer but still resulted in a Butler County win, 7-1. Amy Rogers was named the Game MVP.
Finally, the Bears lost a close one Saturday afternoon, falling 3-2 to host Johnson Central in the championship game. The game went eight innings and was decided in a tie-breaker. Lynsie Clark, who narrowly missed a three-run home, was named the Game MVP.
