BC Sheriff's Department Recovers Stolen Items

Three individuals are charged with receiving stolen property from three separate incidents according to Butler County Sheriff Scottie Ward.

Luke Childers, DOB 12-16-83, is charged with Receiving Stolen Property (Under $10,000) after items belonging to Chelsea Lawrence were found in his possession. Childers allegedly had some metal items, a cherry picker lift, and a hay fork that were stolen from Lawrence.

A stolen 4-wheeler/ATV belonging to Josh Tichenor was recovered from Jarrod Wilkerson. Wilkerson, DOB 5-18-78, is charged with Receiving Stolen Property (Under $10,000).

Van Allen Washer, DOB 7-5-79, is charged with Receiving Stolen Property (Under $10,000) after a quantity of metal fence posts belonging to Max Cartwright were found in his possession.

Sheriff Ward says that the theft of metal items is increasing and has become a serious problem in recent years due to the down economy and the high price of recyclable metals. He cautions residents to take extra precautions when storing metal items, and says that anyone should be dubious if approached about buying metal items, especially aluminum, copper, or brass.

The charges came from investigations led by multiple deputies from the Butler County Sheriff’s Office.
