The Butler County Board of Education met in regular session on Tuesday, January 14th, 2020 at the Butler County Educational Complex.  Amy Hood, Delbert Johnson, Debbie Hammers, and Ryan Daugherty were the board members present. The meeting was chaired by Superintendent Scott Howard. 

Under Consent Agenda Butler County School Board voted on the 2020-2021 calendar. 

Below are the highlights for the 2020-21 school calendar: 

-August 12th:  Opening Day for Students

-October 5th-9th:  Fall Break (School Resumes October 12th)

-December 21st-January 3rd:  Winter Break (School Resumes January 4th 2021)

-April 5th-9th:  Spring Break (School resumes April 12th)

-May 21st:  Last day for students

As the meeting was called to order the board accepted the resignation of 1st district representative Aimee Sanders.  Mr. Howard stated, “We will begin the process to fill that seat as soon as possible.” The board also elected Amy Hood as the chairperson and Delbert Johnson as Vice Chairperson for the 2020 board committee. 

Under Communication, KSBA member Quinn Sutton addressed the board in regards to services that are available when conducting a Superintendent search.  The board will begin that process in the upcoming months in light of Mr. Scott Howard announcing his retirement for June 2020.
