BC Girls' XC advances to state
The Butler County Cross-Country team competed in the Class 2A Regional meet on Saturday November 3rd where the girls team took Region Runners-Up Honors. It is the first time in 9 seasons a full team has qualified for the state meet. Team members include Chanda Hampton, Amy Rogers, Olivia Neighbors, Maranda Pierson, Hannah Perry, Dalys Bishop, Kierra Neighbors, and Hannah Logan.
Two of the team members finished in the top ten in the region. Freshman Olivia Neighbors finished 6th overall with a time of 21:11 and junior Chanda Hampton finished 9th overall with a time of 21:24. Freshman Maranda Pierson finished 14th overall with a time of 21:43, 8th grader Hannah Perry was 16th overall with a time of 21:49 and 7th grader Kierra Neighbors finished 5th for Butler County coming in 17th overall with a time of 21:52. Other strong finishes for the team were from Hannah Logan (44th, 24:20) and Amy Rogers (46th, 24:23). There were 10 full teams competing in the meet. The team average time was 21:36 which was the 8th fastest team composite time from yesterday's Regional competition across the state.
On the boys side, junior Ethan Jenkins earned another trip to state for the third year in a row. He finished 6th overall out of 59 runners with a time of 17:29 which was his personal best time.
These runners will be competing next Saturday, November 10th, at the Kentucky Horse Park in Lexington in the KHSAA state championship meet. Good luck to these athletes as they strive for continued success at the state championship meet and congratulations on Region 2A Runners-Up!
