BC Drug Free: Smoking makes you high risk

According to the CDC, smokers are at much higher risk for severe illness if they contract COVID-19.  Because this virus is an infection that aggressively attacks the lungs, it is imperative that people do all they can to keep their lungs healthy to avoid the most serious effects of the disease.  Smoking and vaping damage the lungs, allowing viruses to more easily attach to lung cells and enter the lungs.  The CDC is urging people who smoke and/or vape to stop immediately.  Recent evidence shows that people who smoke were 2.4 times more likely to have severe symptoms associated with COVID-19 compared to that of nonsmokers.
