BC Drug Free Facts

As we all know, people spend a great deal of time in their cars.  If a parent of someone else smokes in the car, toxic chemicals can build up quickly, even if the air conditioner is on or if the windows are open.  This is especially harmful for children.  There are significant health risks for children who are exposed to secondhand smoke, including SIDS (sudden infant death syndrome), asthma/wheezing, worsening of respiratory diseases, and ear infections.  The American Academy of Pediatrics also states that exposure during childhood to secondhand smoke may also be associated with the development of cancer during adulthood.  Protect your children.  Make your home, and your car, smoke free!
