- 42.41% of Kentuckians over the age of 18 have reported using alcohol in the last thirty days. 

- Over 20% of those Kentuckians reported binge drinking.

- Binge drinking is the most common form of excessive drinking.  It is defined as having more than five drinks in a single session. 

- Heavy drinking is defined as having more than 8 drinks per week as a woman and more than 15 drinks per week as a man. 

- Excessive alcohol use can lead to the development of serious problems and chronic diseases.  High blood pressure, heart disease, liver disease, stroke, and certain types of cancer can be caused from drinking over time.
