BC 4H Shooting Sports to host Kickoff Meeting

On April 11 at 6:00 pm, there will be a meeting to kick off the Butler County 4H Shooting Sports 2023 season. The meeting will be held at the Butler County Extension Service in the conference room. Even if an individual shot last year, it is important to attend the meeting and fill out updated enrollment forms. There is no fee for joining, with reasonable fees only incurred if a child wants to shoot trap.

4H Shooting Sports include three types of archery, BB Rifle, Pellet Rifle, .22 Rifle, .22 pistol and trap. Children ages 9 to 18, may participate, although they must be 12 or older to use a .22 pistol.

Kentucky 4-H Shooting Sports began in 1988. It is now a nationally recognized program that, according to the Kentucky Shooting Sports website, “focuses on fostering life skills and positive youth development through healthy competition, service, leadership and education.” Further, the shooting sports program “fosters mastery by learning firearm safety and marksmanship, belonging by taking part in club and community activities, independence by demonstrating responsible firearm use, and generosity by participating in community service and outreach projects.”
