Backpacks For Blessings

Due to the increasing number of homeless inmates we are seeing at the Butler County Jail we are taking efforts to assist offenders at release. Recently we have had a growing number of inmates who are either leaving to the street and have no home or are being taken to the Greyhound Bus Station for transport to Halfway Houses at release.

Most of the these offenders have no money, no family support, and only the clothing on their back. We are averaging 1 inmate per week being released with nothing, so based on these numbers we are hoping to prepare between 50-60 backpacks per year.

For these reasons we are now collecting new or "gently used" backpacks, hygiene items, new socks, washcloths, chapsticks, toiletries, bottled water and non-perishable foods. ONLY inmates that are HOMELESS will be receiving these at release.

Anyone that is interested or would like more information based on the Backpacks for Blessings Program, please contact Tara McMillin at 270-526-3505.

Thank you.
