Attempted Robbery Spoiled by Customer

The hammer and club used to beat Peter Patel at Jumping Jack's.

UPDATE: Peter Patel, the injuried clerk, is home from the hospital and recovering. He is expected to return to work soon.

Shortly after midnight Travis Price went into Jumping Jack’s, located at 2350 Bowling Green Road, to get something to drink and apparently spoiled an attempted robbery. Finding nobody at the counter and sounds of a fight coming from the office, Price went to investigate.

“I opened the office door and found two men beating the clerk with a club and a hammer, they slammed the door on me, I ran to my truck and called 911,” said Price.

Price’s truck was parked in front of one entry door and according to Price the men ran out the other door.

An unmarked police unit observed two men getting into a vehicle at the former Pamida parking lot and called a marked unit with the information. The two men were captured by law enforcement officers in a traffic stop and taken into custody at 1:33 am.

Taken into custody were: Joshua A. Proctor, 21, of 500 Boat Factory Road, and William G. Ingram, 25, of 113 Bell Street, both of Morgantown. Both men were charged with robbery, first degree and assault, first degree. A hammer and club was found in their possession. They were lodged in the Butler County Jail.

Butler County EMS transported store clerk, Peter Patel, 22, to the hospital.  Morgantown Police Officer Denny Deweese is in charge of the investigation.  Also responding was MPD Sgt. Andy Gidcumb and Butler County Sheriff’s Deputies Joe Alford and Chris Reneer.

Is either of these two related too or have something in common with the elderly woman that "fell down" a week or two ago? I think that DNA test should be done on the club and hammer! I would like to know the physical status of the elderly woman as well as the clerk.
thank god that the young man went in the store to get something to drink .he may have safe peter life.
The clerk was lucky that Travis came into the store!! He saved the man's life!!
Mr. Price and our local Police are to be commended for their rapid response. I have met Mr. Patel in the past when buying gas and other items at the store there and He is a very hard working friendly man. I pray for his quick recovery. Thank God that Mr. Price was at the right place at the right time to prevent further injury and possibly death and Thank God for our local Police who Protect and Serve our Community.
