Attempted Break-In at True Value

The front door of Bill Hood’s True Value Hardware was shattered early Monday morning.  Someone attempted to break-in to the hardware a little after 2:00am.  The alarm system notified the police and Morgantown Police Officer Denny Deweese arrived at the scene.

According to owner Craig Hankins he is unaware of anything missing.

“I have not done an inventory but it appears the alarm may have scared them off,” said Hankins.  This is twice people have busted in my front door.”

The investigation is ongoing and surveillance equipment is being checked.

Thank goodness for the quick response of Officer Deweese from the MPD. Just another reason to put to bed this idea of doing away with MPD. If we had to wait on a response from a deputy from BCSD that was working a wreck at Reedyville or Quality, then Mr. Hankins would have lost a lot of inventory, and there would be a few more stolen guns on the street. Not to mention he fact that if the BCSD is having to cover the many duties the MPD now covers, when would they have time to patrol the county areas? If I were a resident of the city, that would be the number one question I'd want to know before voting next Tuesday.
