Arrah Wanna Evans 100th Birthday Celebration
Thu, 11/15/2018 - 7:29pm — Jimbob Baird
Much like a humble herald of better things to come, Arrah Wanna Evans was born to PC and Annie Pendley on November 12, 1918, the day after the war to end all wars ended. On November 12, 2018, Wanna celebrated her 100th birthday at Morgantown Care and Rehabilitation Center.
Surrounded by dear friends and five generations of family, Wanna still has that easy smile, light in her eyes, and faith in the lord that she had when she growing up on the family farm in Provo. As she grew up, Wanna would play on an organized softball team, marry the love of her live named Chick, helped put rivets into WWII airplanes, manage a restaurant, run a grocery store, work at a dry cleaners, deliver the mail, write for the newspaper, and give birth to 3 children.
The day’s celebration provided plenty of time for celebration, fellowship, and visitations along with cake, punch and refreshments. Among the well-wishers were Sherry Johnson County Clerk and PVA Suzanne Brosnan who presented Wanna with a certificate of recognition from all the elected officials of Butler county. “I have always put my faith in the Lord and I am here today because of him,” is Wanna’s testimony.
Special poem for Wanna by Mary “Sissy” Johnson of Morgantown Rehab
“Imagine if you will a century ago and what life was about back then
Not many of those folks still around, for time is not always a friend
November 12, 2018 Arrah Wanna Evans celebrated a century on this earth
She’s a library filled with endless wisdom and blessed with the gift of mirth
Her life is filled with stories that span the seasons and have no end when retold
She has remained faithful to when the moment comes and the blacktop turns to gold"
