Archery Results are IN!

Sixteen Morgantown Elementary students and their families traveled to Myrtle Beach this past week to participate in the NASP World Tournament!  Tournament action began on Thursday, June 23 and ended Sunday, June 25; the MES team had their flight at 12:15(ET) on Friday the 24th.
The team earned a total of 3,070 points which earned them 15th place ranking of the 54 elementary schools participating.  Because this was a WORLD tournament, there were elementary, middle and high school students there from 6 different countries.  In the elementary division, there were 1,246 children competing in this one competition.  (Note: this number does not include the middle and high school participants)
To ensure the scoring is consistent team scores are calculated by using the top 12 scores of the team (top 4 boy scores; top 4 girl scores; plus the next four highest scores).  Our team had sixteen students participating and listed below this article are the individual students score and ranking.
As an added bonus, twelve of the MES team members were able to get registered to participate in the NASP World 3D tournament – something these students have only participated in one time at a previous tournament.  A 3-D tournament is one where the archers shoot at 3-dimensional targets set at a variety of distances between the 10 and 15-meter mark.  As a team, they score 1,285 points earning them a 7th place ranking of the 16 elementary schools that participated.
While this didn’t earn the school a top three awards, it did earn the following title:
The first elementary team from Butler County to participate in state, national and world archery tournaments!

The team was treated to pizza at the beach with MES Principal Chad Flener, and  they enjoyed a fun time as a group of leaders who led the MES Archery Team to the World!
