Annual Terrapin Race Set for Saturday

The annual Terrapin Race has been a fan favorite event ever since the first ever Catfish Festival. However, this year’s Terrapin Race will be an event associated with the 2021 Butler County Fair, as a result not having the Catfish Festival this year.

The Terrapin Race is being hosted by Cassia Lodge #272 and will be taking place on July 3, 2021. This event has always been held at the City Park, but this year has been moved to the High School Softball Field because of the park’s unavailability.

Registration for the race will begin at 7:00 a.m. with the race to follow at 8:00 a.m. Children 13 and under are eligible to enter. They are allowed to enter two terrapins each and must be present at the race to participate.

The event will feature “Heat” races and there will be cash prizes given to the placing finishers. There will be a Finale Race for the top finishers of the heat races. There will also be cash prizes given to those winners along with terrapin topped trophy.
