Annual Morgantown Christmas Parade Largest on Record

The 2011 Morgantown-Butler County Chamber of Commerce Christmas Parade was the largest parade in history.  “For the first time ever, the parade entries overlapped each other,” said Amanda Hatcher, Executive Director of the Chamber.

Saturday was a beautiful day and the parade did not disappoint. Morgantown was packed with spectators as Santa came to town.  The Morgantown Police Department and the Butler County Sheriff’s Department lead the parade through town.

Congressional Medal of Honor recipient, Don Jenkins served as Grand Marshal of the parade. A record number of floats , elected officials, WBKO personalities, clowns, antique cars and trucks, business vehicles, and  scouts were just a few of the entries.

The award winning Butler County High School Band and the Butler County Middle School band filled the air with Christmas music.

Beauty queens, calendar girls, NJROTC Cadets, local churches, fire trucks, EMS, tractors, and horses made their way through town.  There was plenty of candy as well as stuffed animals for the children.

“We want to thank everyone that participated in the parade, as well as the all the people that lined the streets, said Kay Romans, Chamber President.

The 2011 Christmas parade was AWESOME. I am so glad that Butler Countians can pull together and put on such a parade. I am so proud of our church float, Walnut Grove Missionary Baptist Church youth. They won first place. We had a lot of fun, food, and fellowship while working on our float. Can't wait until next year. Great job Chamber. Merry CHRISTmas to all!!!!!!!!!
Great Parade! Probably the longest parade I have seen in Butler County. Our family really enjoyed. Thanks
