Andy Sullivan: Are You Ready For Some Football?!

Football is back! Last Saturday, the college football season kicked off.  I was in front of the television all day.  I did take a football break for the St. Louis Cardinals game.  After that, though, it was right back to football.  I started my day with history-the first Penn State game in decades without the late Joe Paterno at the helm.
Saturday night, I turned on my computer and went to espn3.com for Arkansas’ opener, a win against Jacksonville State.  Sunday after church, I saw what can only be described as a brutal beat down given to Kentucky at the hands of Louisville.  I think this may be the beginning of the final season for UK coach Joker Phillips.  That’s okay Louisville, you can have the governor’s cup and we’ll keep our National Championship.
What I really anticipate, however, is the kick-off of the NFL season. The Cowboys and Giants will have played that first game by the time you read this.  As most know, I am a huge Tennessee Titans fan.  What will be interesting is November 11th at Miami.  Not necessarily that it’ll be a good game, but my brother-in-law is a life-long Dolphins fan.  Hmmm….
Also, fantasy football begins.  I had my draft a few weeks ago and my fantasy team, White Sabre(complete with an icon of Betty White yielding a light sabre, put together a pretty decent team. The intriguing things of note as the season starts: Maurice Jones-Drew ended his hold-out and is back with the team.  The last guy to hold-out, the Titans’ Chris Johnson, came back to have a not-so-stellar year.  Could that be trouble for MJD, not to mention those who have him in fantasy leagues? Cowboys’ tight end Jason Witten may or may not play week one.  Obviously their offense is drastically different with him in the line-up. I didn’t mean to go all football update on you.  I usually save that stuff for my blog.  Questions abound, but I’ll leave you with one: Are you ready for some football?!
