Andy Sullivan: Against the Grain

In 2004, the term bucket list was used-perhaps for the first time-in the context of things to do before one kicks the bucket(a phrase in use since 1785) in the book Unfair & Unbalanced: The Lunatic Magniloquence of Henry E. Panky, by Patrick M. Carlisle.  Another thing I think about is the 2007 movie with Morgan Freeman and Jack Nicholson.  I just prefer to focus more on the “things I want to do” part rather than the dying part.

I suppose I could make a list like they did in the movie.  Maybe some of you have made lists.  I’ve been blessed enough to go to Kentucky games, Titans games, St. Louis Cardinals games and such.  As an avid wrestling fan/geek, I’d love to go to a WrestleMania and a SummerSlam.  Yes, you can see it better watching on WWE Network but I’d love the live experience.

There’s really nothing like a live event.  Whether it be a sport, concert, sports-entertainment or anything else.  Something else on my bucket list is visiting the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame.  Being a massive music fan, the Rock Hall and Country Music Halls of Fame are two musts.  Years ago, I marked the Country Music Hall Of Fame off my list.  I’d love to see all those historic exhibits in the Rock Hall.  Even better might be catching a live recording for Sirius XM’s Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Radio.

Seeing all that memorabilia would be so cool.  Of course taking photos would be banned, so that would be a slight bummer.  That said, the memories are what you’d take with you forever.  If you ever get the once in a lifetime opportunity to go to one of these, or any event of which you are a fan, go.  Here’s hoping your bucket ends up empty because you’ve done everything on your list.  I’d say that would be a life well lived.
