Andy Sullivan: Against the Grain

Tuesday, June 13, I attended a doubleheader between the St Louis Cardinals and Milwaukee Brewers at Busch Stadium.  The afternoon game, hot as it was, was a victorious one for my Cardinals who won 6-0.  The night game, however, was a bit of a bummer.  They lost the night game 8-5.  40,083 attended the day game; 40,115 attended the night game.

My brother-in-law Brock, who was named for Lou Brock

Before the game, we journeyed to the Cardinal Store in Ballpark Village.  If you’ve never been to Ballpark Village, it’s really neat! Statues of all the Cardinal greats of the past, jerseys, and shirts for sale of past, present and future stars, caps of all different designs.  There were also plenty of plaques for display and sale.  One of which that caught my attention was this little piece of information: one 1967-’68 Cardinals' World Series upper deck ticket cost $8!

It’s always a great time at Busch Stadium whether you’re a massive baseball fan or a marginal one.  At the same time, it’s always better to see it live.  You really don’t get the full experience watching it on TV.  If you ever get the chance, go at least once.  It’s fun!
