Lyon County, Kentucky was founded in 1854 and was named for Chittendon Lyon.  Lyon(1787-1842) was a United States Representative.  He was a member of the House of Representatives for two years and served in the Kentucky Senate for eight.  The county seat and largest city is Eddyville.  Estimated population as of 2015 was 8,306.  Notable residents include Keen Johnson, publisher and Kentucky governor(born Lyon County, 1896), Hylan Benton Lyon, Confederate general and Kentucky political figure, and Forrest Pogue, World War II Historian born in Lyon County 1812.

McCracken County, Kentucky was founded in 1825 from Hickman County and named for Captain Virgil McCracken of Woodford County, Kentucky.  He was killed in the Battle of Frenchtown in southeastern Michigan during the War of 1812.  The county seat and largest county is Paducah.  Estimated population as of 2015 was 65,018.  

McCreary County, Kentucky was founded March 12, 1912 and founded for James B. McCreary, a lawyer and politician from Kentucky. He was the 37th governor of Kentucky.  Whitley City is the county seat.  Pine Knot is the largest community.  Estimated population as of 2015 was 17,878.  

•McClean County, Kentucky was founded in 1854 and named for U.S. Representative and Judge Alney McClean, founder of Greenville(county seat of Muhlenberg County).  McClean’s county seat is Calhoun.  Its largest city is Livermore.  Estimated population in 2015 was 9,512.  Notable cities include Calhoun, population 837, sits on the north bank of Green River in the central area of the county and is the seat of government.

•Island is noted for its annual Wooden Bridge Festival and has a population of 435.

•Livermore, the largest community in McLean County with a population 1,482, lies in the eastern part of the county at the scenic confluence of Rough and Green Rivers. Livermore's bridge is noteworthy, as it begins in McLean County, crosses the Rough River, passes over and has a pylon on a sliver of Ohio County territory, crosses the Green River, then ends back in McLean County.

•Sacramento is home to the annual Battle of Sacramento Civil War Reenactment, the largest tourist event in the county, and has a population of 517.
