Andy Sullivan: Against the Grain

We all have at least one song that explains us.  Artists have a way of writing or singing a song that has us going “yes! That’s definitely me”! Whether it be life in general, your current relationship situation or lack thereof, everyone can pick at least one.  For example, if you’ve had enough of your job, your song may be Johnny Paycheck’s “Take This Job and Shove It”.
I did get several responses via Facebook.  The song “Let It Go” by Idini Menzel from the movie Frozen.  My best friend said “Gravity” from Sara Bareilles.  Actually, she has several but that’s the only one she could think of.  That sounds like me.  “Raise Your Glass” by Pink was another example I was given.  “Funhouse” by Pink and Simon & Garfunkel’s “Bridge Over Troubled Waters” were several other examples.
I have a few songs with which I identify.  I always liked “Eye of the Tiger” as my workout “in the zone” song.  Tom Petty’s “I Won’t Back Down” is kind of like my “bring it on” song.  So I guess I have various songs that explain me.  Don’t we all?
Preferences, like seasons, change.  A new song comes out and it may become your new “it” song.  Your “it” song may be 25 years old or older.  What song(s) best describe you?
