"And though she be but little, she is fierce"

The Forgy Family

On June 25, 2014 God blessed Jeff and Shayla Forgy with the greatest gift you can have; a child. Little did they know at the time of her birth, that their daughter, Lexi Jewell (aka, Baby Lexi) would become so incredibly loved and such a blessing to everyone that knows (or knows of) her and her parents.
Lexi was born with several medical problems, which have required numerous long stays at Monroe Carell Jr. Children's Hospital at Vanderbilt. This, as everyone is aware , is very, very expensive. Even with medical insurance, the cost just grew (and is still growing) beyond an amount most people could even think about paying.
Due to the fact of this precious family being so loved, people started pulling together and had a great desire to show their love and support for the Forgy family. A t-shirt was designed by Susan Embry in honor of "Baby Lexi" and 100's of those have been sold. All profit from those went to Jeff & Shayla.
From that point, a benefit was organized by Susan Porter and several loving volunteers in hopes of being able to show their support by raising money to go toward medical expenses and relieve some of the stress off the Forgy's.

On Saturday, January 10, over 800 people showed up to give support and love for this special family. To start the night, Shayla gave a very emotional speech thanking everyone for all the thoughts and prayers for her, Jeff and Lexi. During this speech, Shayla explained " Lexi has not been diagnosed with one "certain" medical condition, she has a little bit of this, a little bit of this, and a little bit of this. All of these "little bits" have created a miracle."
Communities, groups, business and individuals, pulled together and raised over $40,000, between the chili dinner, cake walks, silent auction, and live auction for the Forgy family.

Jeff and Shayla cannot express in words what this outpouring of love has meant. They would like to thank everyone that has done anything, from volunteering, to visits, and mostly for prayers. They asked that people continue the prayers because they know they are working.
Shayla is writing in her words, their journey with Lexi. When she gets this complete, I will be sharing this with everyone in a separate story.
