Alonzo & Ramirez Captured After Wrecking on Flat Rock Hill

 A Sunday morning wreck landed two men Denny Alonzo, 33 and Ernesto Ramirez, 26, of Morgantown, in Butler County Jail. The vehicle left the road around 8:30am at the top of Flat Rock Hill along Rochester Road, traveled down the embankment and rolled over onto its top. The duo was driving a 2001 blue van.

Butler County Sheriff’s Deputy Trey Flener responded, only to find the vehicle empty. Information was received about the men in the woods. Morgantown Police Department Sergeant Andy Gidcumb responded to the scene. Visual contact was made by the officers. 

The pursuit continued and Alonzo, was apprehended around 10:35 a.m.  Alonzo was charged with driving under the influence- first offense .089; reckless driving; leaving the scene of accident; fleeing/evading police; and failure to produce operator's license. He was lodged in the Butler County Jail.

Ernesto Ramirez

Sgt. Gidcumb apprehended the passenger Ramirez around 12:45 pm was in the area of Pleasant Rock Church. Ernesto Ramirez was charged with fleeing or evading police, second degree, and alcohol intoxication in a public place, first and second offenses. He was lodged in the Butler County Jail.

 Responding to the scene were the Butler County Sheriff’s Department, Morgantown City Police,  Butler County EMS, and Butler County Rescue Squad.
