Against The Grain: Quality Cruise In

There were 100 entries into the Quality Cruise-in on Saturday, June 23.  For at least 4 hours, cars, trucks, tractors and motorcycles made the trek to Quality. Believe it or not, the farthest to come to the show came from Georgia! Over the last few years, I’ve really gotten into the car shows.  That’s probably because you pay more attention to something that a family member has a direct entry into (as my dad does with his ’01 Bullitt).

There were many drawings for prizes, trophies, etc.  Kelly Givens’ 1970 Chevy Camaro took 1st place. Bobby Hughes’ 1930 Ford took 2nd. Shane Carver’s 1980 Chevy Malibu took 3rd.   Merv Stauffer took 1st place for his ’41 Chevy pickup.  Second was Donald Stearsman for his ’61 Ford Econoline pickup.  Third place went to Murl Gray’s 1970 Chevy.

First place in motorcycles went to Billy Sharp for his 2003 Heritage.  Second place was awarded to Chris Corsey and his 2003 Kawasaki.  Third place was awarded to Ronnie Willhite for his 2003 Harley.

First place for tractors was awarded to Dennis Hall for his 1949 Case-IH.  Second place was awarded to Randy Grubb for his ’63 Massey Ferguson. Third place was awarded to Dennis Hall for his ’58 Ford.

First, second and third place in lawnmowers went to Buck Carver.  Merv Stauffer’s 1941 Chevy pickup won the People’s Choice award.

There was some fantastic soft-serve homemade ice-cream served by the Amish.  It was very interesting and entertaining to see this process put into motion.  I’d personally never seen it done.  There was also hamburgers, hot dogs, chips and drinks served.
