Against The Grain by: Andy Sullivan

Games aren’t just for kids anymore.  There are lots of games that pique the interest of adults.  My favorite right now is Words With Friends.  I’ve loved UNO ever since I was a kid.  In fact, my family would get mad because I used to leave my cards face up on the table where everyone could see, and I’d still win.  I say they let me.  They said no. The Kindle version of UNO is a little different, but it’s just as addictive and fun as the old school card game.
The classic game show Family Feud is also available to download on the Kindle Fire.  Flow Free is a newer game for the Kindle which I’ve quickly grown to love, as it is very addictive.  It takes the old connect the dots to a new level.  There are different color dots and the object is to connect them, but to be careful not to overlap the lines said dots make.  There is free play, where there is no set time to connect the dots.  The more competitive is the time trial setting.  You can choose from 30 seconds, one minute, two minutes and four minutes.  It sounds easy.  Trust me, it gets harder.
Going on there I noticed they’ve added some new games.  There is Flow Free With Bridges, you use the new bridges to cross the pipes.  Another classic made for Kindle is Wheel of Fortune.  I watched Wheel as a kid.  I have the Wii version of Wheel and there is a Kindle version as well.  Guess TV Show is another new one.  You get four pictures and you must guess the show title based upon those pictures.  They’re not pictures from said show, however.  It’s like charades.
Guess the Brand is another good game.  It’s exactly what the title says.  They give you a logo, for example Monster energy drink, and you are to tap in the answer.  Solitaire, Price is Right Slots, Basketball Shoot (self-explanatory), pop-a-shot basketball and the classic Tetris are all on my device.  Yes. I enjoy games.  Don’t worry, I read books on there also.  But this isn’t a book column.  So, grab your Kindle and download your favorite game.  It’s easier than trying to take the actual game with you wherever you go.  I don’t think you’d want to play Uno cards with somebody in a doctor’s office waiting room.  It’s just a thought.
