Against the Grain: Andy Sullivan

I was going to write about something else this week and then Monday happened. I’m not going to sit here and be like all the pundits who will try to dissect the tragedy at the Boston Marathon.  I’m also not going to sit here and offer advice on how to bring this up to kids.  I don’t know, so it would be foolish for me to act as if I did.

The graphic images are inescapable.  You’re scared as a parent, scared as a child, scared as a 33 year-old single guy.  Monday afternoon, I shared this status on my twitter page: What is wrong with this world? Valid question to which there was no answer.  As I said, I’m not in the speculative business so I will not.

In any disaster such as this, it’s good to talk about it.  I’m not here to tell you when that time is, or what to say.  The only thing I can offer is that my thoughts and prayers are with the people of Boston, the first responders, and all affected in this terrible tragedy.

Hello, my name is Andy Sullivan. I received my bachelor’s degree in business from Mid-Continent University in May 2009. I began writing for Beech Tree News in July 2009.  I enjoy playing guitar, the occasional Wii game, writing, and listening to music. I write a sports blog that can be found at http://andyuk79.tumblr.com. If you have a comment, feel free to leave it in the space below.
