Against The Grain by: Andy Sullivan

Saturday December 15, several from my Sunday school class at Monticello Baptist travelled to Lewis Lane Baptist Church in Owensboro, KY to take their “Walk Through Bethlehem” tour.  When we walked in the church, we were handed a brochure. In this brochure was our group name.  Whenever your group name was called, you went to your assigned section of the auditorium where you were met by a Roman soldier who would be your tour guide.

We saw Mary, Joseph, the baby Jesus and other historical figures of the Bible.  Each had a short speech to give. The actors played their parts very well. At the end of the tour, we walked outside to see the animals.  I was impressed that they put real live animals in their display.  They really go all out with this re-enactment.  This is a long-running tour. I overheard that they had been doing the Walk through Bethlehem for 16 years.
Lewis Lane Baptist Church is located at 2600 Lewis Lane, Owensboro, KY 42301.  All information can be found on their website: www.lewislanebc.org
Afterwards, we saw a Christmas lights show nearby in town.  It was a great church outing for the Christmas season.
