AG Commissioner Shell speaks at Chamber luncheon

Kentucky Commissioner of Agriculture Jonathan Shell was in Morgantown last week and was the featured speaker at the Morgantown-Butler County Chamber of Commerce monthly luncheon, which was held on Thursday, June 26.

Butler County Farm Bureau President Greg Drake introduced Shell.

In brief remarks, Shell highlighted some of the Department of Agriculture's investments in Butler County, including the Eva J. Hawes building, the Farmers' Market, and the fairgrounds grant.

"Ag is economic development," said Shell, who also emphasized how 4H, FFA and extension services all support agriculture in the state.

The commissioner also recognized County Clerk Sherry Johnson for her role in the "AG Tag" program.
