6th Annual Southern Kentucky Star Search

3rd Place Sonya King, 2nd Place Dustin Collins, and Winner Brenda Maxie

The 6th Annual Southern Kentucky Star Search, sponsored by Morgantown Bank & Trust and Sam 100.7 FM, was held last night at the Green River Catfish Festival. Ten finalists performed for the crowd and judges on the basketball court for their chance to be crowned the winner. After all of the finalists performed two songs, Brenda Maxie took home first prize. She received a trophy and $250 after her soulful renditions of "At Last" by Etta James and "Mercy" by Duffy. Dustin Collins placed second and Sonya King took third in the competition.

Jeff Johnson, the first contestant, sang "The Cowboy Rides Away" by George Straight and "Hicktown" by Jason Aldean.

Mark Johnson sang "What She's Doing Now" by Garth Brooks and "How I Got To Be This Way" by Justin Moore.

Kandi Cardwell sang "Unchained Melody" by Bobby Hatfield and "Before He Cheats" by Carrie Underwood.

Quineece Hester performed "Bleeding Love" by Leona Lewis and "Rollin' in the Deep" by Adele.

Dustin Collins played "Family Man" by Craig Campbell and "Wagon Wheel" by Old Crow Medicine Show.

Page Burden sang Justin Beiber's "Fall" and "Like We Never Loved At All" by Faith Hill.

Brenda Maxie sang "At Last" by Etta James and "Mercy" by Duffy.

Andrea Goodman sang "When God Fearin' Women Get The Blues" by Martina McBride and "Wrong Side of Memphis" by Trisha Yearwood.

Kyle Springer played "Wild Night" by John Mellencamp and "Love Don't Live Here" by Lady Antebellum.

Sonya King sang "Hell on Heels" by the Pistol Annies and "Banjo" by Rascal Flatts.

Tony Rose, DJ for Sam 100.7, emceed the event.

Judges for the event were Steve Meredith, Kyle Whitaker, and Melissa Johnson.

Co-Chairman of the GRCF Ricky Romans presents Maxie with her winnings.
