The BCHS Boys basketball (1973-74) team, to many will to date be called the greatest team in school history. On the 40th anniversary it only fitting that we look back and share with those too young to remember.
        The 1973-74 BCHS Boys basketball season completed a perfect 25-0 regular season record.  During that run of twenty-five wins, during the regular season the Bears had signature wins over Lou. Manual, Warren Central, Hopkinsville, Lou. Doss, Central City, Franklin Simpson, and Apollo.
        Probably one of the most talked about games during regular season was the BCHS vs Edmonson Co. game which was moved to EA Diddle Arena on the campus of WKU.  The Bears were 16-0 at that point in the season, and in front of a sellout crowd  clipped the Wildcats 73-71.  The Bears roster was loaded with senior experience in the likes of Randy Burden, Barry White, Kevin Phelps, and Mike Wallace all starters. The fifth starter was sophomore Gary Wallace.
         The Bears would enter the district tournament which was held at Leitchfield HS in Grayson Co., keep in mind this was before the consolidation of schools in Grayson Co. and   with a perfect undefeated record improved to 26-0 knocking off Clarkson HS by a score of 83-61. The second round game of the district due to the need for seating again is moved to Diddle Arena on the campus of WKU.  This time the Edmonson Co. Wildcats would pull the upset 62-60; and end the BCHS Bears season, denying a chance to advance to the Region and perhaps the Boys Sweet 16 of the 1973-74 season?  The BCHS Bears story book season ended at 26-1.  Here is a look at that season game by game.
