2021 Recycling/Solid Waste Report

Recycling/Solid Waste 2021:  January – December

Recycling:

1. The Recycling Center made 3,867 runs and processed the materials.  Old newsprint, white paper, books, aluminum, steel, other various metals, and cardboard.  Had 822 deliveries of various materials.  Had 997 volunteer labor hours.

2. Maintenance on building and all equipment was kept up throughout the year with help from the Road Department.

3. Sold $17,834.40 of recycled materials in 2021.

Solid Waste:

1. Solid Waste made 796 for different Solid Waste issues in all Districts.

2. Picked up house hold trash, waste tires, mattresses, couches, and furniture on the sides of roads on a daily basis.

3. Gave 19 verbal warnings over the County’s Nuisance Ordinance in 2021.  Working with County Attorney Dick Deye was able to receive a $500.00 fine for Criminal Littering this year.  Still working with County Attorney on more. 

4. Two City/County Clean Up were held this year.  One in the Spring that collected 41 loads of solid waste.  Weighing in at 188.83 tons of waste and 2.75 tons recycled.  Approximately 400 waste tires collected.  The fall event collected 17 loads of solid waste.  Weighing in at 86.72 tons of waste and 2.75 recycled.  Approximately 150 waste tires collected.

5. Had a waste tire collection event in 2021.  We were able to collect 21,139 waste tires to be recycled in this three day event.

6. Overseen Liter Abatement activities in the county and Disposed of the waste picked up by the nonprofit groups.

7. Applied for and received a $4,000.00 Waste Tire Grant for Recycling waste tires we collect throughout the year.  Also applied for An Illegal Open Dump Grant.  That may get 7 illegal open dumps cleaned up in 2022.
