2021 Butler County Fair and other events slated for this summer

"Fun times for everyone" is what organizers are hoping many Butler Countians will experience this summer.  Many of those events will be a part of the 2021 Butler County Fair.  The fair will be taking the place of the Green River Catfish Festival this year due to unavailability of the city park.

In June, some events you can look forward to are the Green River Road Races, fishing tournaments, livestock show, and 4-H exhibits.

The traditional catfish fishing tournament at the Green River is scheduled for June 25th, 26th, and 27th from 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the Morgantown Boat Ramp.  There will be one tagged catfish worth $5,000.  There will also be many other tagged fish worth amounts ranging from $100 and up.

The Green River Road Races, which was held June 5, was separated into a 5 mile, 5K, and 1 mile race.  The 5-mile race was from Morgantown to Woodbury.  The 5K was from Cool Springs Road to Woodbury.  The 1-mile race, Kids Fun Run, was held at the Lock 4 Road in Woodbury.

A livestock show will take place on June 29th at the Eva Hawes Ag Expo Center.  Check-in will be from 4:00 to 5:45 p.m. with the show starting at 6:00 p.m.  The livestock shows will include beef heifer, market hog, sheep, and goat.  These will immediately follow the others.  There will also be many 4-H Exhibits that will take place at the Butler County Extension Office.  These exhibits will take place on June 28th-30th and July 1st-4th.

In July, you will find 4-H exhibits, Power Wheels Crash-Up Derby, catfish wrastlin’, demolition derby, trail town float, beauty pageants, terrapin race, fireworks, and Fair on the Square.

Everyone knows you can’t celebrate the Fourth of July without fireworks!  The City of Morgantown will be putting on a firework show on July 4th for everyone.
