2017 Senior Band Members Recognized

The Boyce Flener Marching Invitational was held on Saturday, September 16th at the Butler County High School.  Seven bands competed, and Murray State University Band performed before awards.  The Butler County Middle School Band played the National Anthem. Host band Butler County presented Pirates: Tales from the Crimson Tide.  Drum Majors this year are Tori Hampton, Chloe Dockery, and Eli Johnson.

The 28 senior band members and their parents were congratulated by Director Jason Ausbrooks and recognized. Seniors included:

Name: Blake Alford

 Favorite Band Memory: Hanging out after school before a game

Name: Hannah Beasley
Parents: Tammy and Kenny Beasley
Years in band: 8 years
Instruments played or positions held: Trumpet, one-year color guard
Favorite Band Memory: The last day of camp when we had a water balloon fight.
Future Plans: Go to college and major in biology or photography.

Name: Neil Bewley
Parents: Chris and Christine Bewley

Instruments played or positions held: Snare drum
Favorite Band Memory: Any bus ride to a faraway competition as long as their way music playing and people were singing along.
Future Plans: To study radiology at southern Kentucky technical college

Favorite Band Memory: Climbing in the ceiling during school.
Future Plans: To become a radiologist.

Honors/Awards in Band: Most improved marcher
Favorite Band Memory: The time during the breaks when we all just hang out before a competition. That sense of a family and friendship is something I will cherish for a lifetime.
Future Plans: To go to WKU and major in civil engineering

Honors/Awards in Band: All district 8 grade and up and honors band junior year
Favorite Band Memory: When Jared Kurfuss threw an orange at Ausbrooks in 8th grade
Future Plans: To go to WKU and become a psychiatrist.

Favorite Band Memory: The water fight on the last day of band camp this year and circle songs.

Favorite Band Memory: Winning first place AA guard every comp last year.

Favorite Band Memory: When we convinced Pardue to do a push-up for every point we scored at a football game

Favorite Band Memory: There are too many to count, but If I  had to pick one it would be the day I joined in 5th grade. Because it was one of the greatest choices, I've ever made.
