2017 BCDAR Festival of Trees

Viewer's choice 1st Baptist WMU

The Butler County Chapter NSDAR 10th Annual Festival of Trees has come to a close, after a very successful year. This year’s event was held in the Butler County Community Development Center # 4. A total of 60 entries were decorated in a variety of themes, including trees, wreaths, nativities and other displays. This transformed the space into a Winter Wonderland which had to be expanded across the hall into unit #3. Once again over 500 elementary students were able to view the trees and enjoy the sights and sounds of the Holiday Season.

Community members also came out to see the beautiful array of entries, many on hand at the kickoff on the day of the Christmas parade. After viewing the trees, they were able to vote on their favorite entry. This year’s Viewer’s Choice award goes to First Baptist Church WMU for the replica of their church and other buildings in Morgantown. Almost the entire exhibit was created from Popsicle sticks. They received a 2017 White House Christmas Ornament for their efforts.

The Butler County Chapter would like to thank Judge Executive David Fields and the Butler County Fiscal Court for making the space available and ready for their use. They would also like to thank all those that decorated a tree or wreath for the event and all those that made monetary donations. Another thank you to the General Richard Butler Chapter SAR members for helping to set up trees and get the space ready. The Butler County Chapter NSDAR is a service organization and all proceeds from the event got to their various veteran, student and community projects.
