The annual Green River Catfish Festival - 2013 editon - is set to officially begin this week on Wednesday, July 3.  However, festival-goers will have the opportunity to head to the Charles Black City Park on Tuesday night, July 2, to enjoy carnival rides on a night with no gate fee.  The gates will open at 4 p.m. on Tuesday.  

Opening ceremonies for the 33rd Annual Green River Catfish Festival are set for Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. with nightly concerts starting at 8 p.m.  Cassia Lodge #272 F&AM will be cooking catfish Thursday through Saturday.  The $10,000 Fishing Tournament runs July 4-6 from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m.  Beauty pageants are Friday and Saturday and the annual Terrapin Race is on Thursday, July 4.  One adjustment to the schedule has been made - the dog show has been moved to Wednesday, July 3, at 6 p.m. instead of Friday.  

Nightly admission is $3 per person, July 4-6.
