2012 Relay For Life

The 2012 Relay for Life will be held on Friday May 4th at the BCHS football and track field.  The opening ceremony will be at 6:00 p.m. with Flag Presentation and the Star Spangled Banner, which will be sung by Rachel Johnson, Bailey Hunt, Allison Kurfiss and Lennon Johnson.  The speaker will be Tina Martin Porter. There will be fabulous music by Resurrection Bound, Hollow Drive, and Tiffany Winchell and, yet to be confirmed, Hannah Embry.
During Relay for Life there will be plenty of good food, games, bouncy inflatables and music.  There will be a Survivor Ceremony and we invite every cancer survivor to attend.  A tent will be set up for all Survivors to sign in and receive a special Survivor t-shirt.  Each survivor will be recognized and will receive a medallion. This is a very emotional time and we hope many people will come and support all of our Butler County survivors.
We will also share in a special luminary ceremony to remember those individuals who have been affected by cancer.  Candles will be lit “in honor” or “in memory” of cancer patients and placed around the track.  We invite a person to support this ceremony by purchasing either a bag or lantern in the name of someone who has been touched by cancer.  The bags are $5.00 and the Lanterns of Love are $50.00.  These will be given to the purchaser after the Relay for Life. For more information on the Luminary ceremony, please contact Kenna Martin at 999-4832.

"I would like to stress the fact that you do NOT have to walk around the track and you do NOT have to spend the night at the BCHS football field.  There are some teams that will walk and spend the night, but the majority of people will not.  We want you to attend and enjoy yourself," said Becky Hankins.

"We would like to invite the community to join us to CELEBRATE with the cancer survivors of Butler County, to REMEMBER the ones who have lost their battle with cancer and to FIGHT BACK by spending some money which will go toward research, diagnostic testing and various other ways that the American Cancer Society uses in the battle against cancer," said Martin.
There is still time to register a team for our Relay for Life.  There is no cost for a new team to register.  We would love to have more church, club, family and business teams.  For more information, please call Becky Hankins at 526-3789 or Kenna Martin at 999-4832.
Christian Family Radio’s Ken Burns will be master of ceremony.
