1st Family and Consumer Science Friday Program – July 7th

The first, of what I hope will be, monthly “Family and Consumer Science Friday” programs is July 7th at the Butler County Extension Service at 2:00 p.m.  The program will focus on local food.

At 2:00 p.m., we will sample fresh food recipes prepared by nutrition educator, Michele Moore.  At 2:15 p.m., Megan Treadway, a Family and Consumer Science agent from Kentucky State University Extension will do a food demonstration using local produce from our community garden.  At 3:00 p.m., we will have social hour with coffee, homemade desserts by Shanna Drake, and Pawpaw ice cream.

Attendees will be able to tour and ask questions about our raised bed garden and poultry demonstration.  We have 6 laying hens in a chicken tractor that are currently producing 6 eggs per day.  The demonstration garden has cucumbers, squash, zucchini, peppers and tomatoes.

There is no charge to attend and everyone is welcome.  Come and bring a friend to the Extension Office on July 7th at 2:00 p.m.

To learn more, contact the Butler County Extension Office of the University of Kentucky Cooperative Extension Service at 102 Parkway Lane, Morgantown or by calling 270-526-3767.
