12th District Boys Basketball History 2005 to Present

The KHSAA realigned high school basketball districts most recently dating back to the 2005-06 season. The new alignment placed the following four schools in the 12th district/ Region 3 for both Boys/Girls Basketball: Butler Co., Edmonson Co., Grayson Co., and Whitesville Trinity.
Since the 2005-06 alignment going into this Friday night’s championship Boys game the Grayson Co. Cougars are (7-1) in the district finals; winning seven district titles; while the Bears are (1-2) making the district finals in 2006, 2012, and 2013.
The Bears and Cougars meet this coming Friday night, February 28th in the 12th District boy’s finals for only the fourth time in the nine year history. The Bears fell to the Cougars in February 2006 by a score of 51-31; in February 2012 by a score of 73-63; and the Bears won in February 2013 by a score of 60-59, securing the only district championship in recent times.
The Bears and Cougars have split this season with the Bears winning at home; and the Cougars winning at home as well. Regardless of the outcome, in the district finals both teams will advance to the Region 3 Tournament next week in Owensboro at the Sports center. The Regional Draw will be held Saturday, March 1st. Time and location TBA.
