10th Annual WLBQ Radiothon raises over $19K for Morgantown Mission

The 10th Annual Radiothon for the Morgantown Mission, held on Friday, November 5, began with the goal of collecting enough pledges to fill 450-holiday food baskets for needy local families. Continuing through Friday night’s football game, 640 baskets were pledged, raising $19,200.  "Thank you, God," was a phrase often heard on Friday as several people, businesses, groups, churches, farmers, county officials, and organizations came out to show their support for the Morgantown Mission.

The radiothon got an early start this year with baskets pledged before Friday and during WLBQ’s Out On A Limb program. Donations rolled in steadily throughout the morning, and with 30 minutes left the 450-basket goal had been surpassed.  By the end of the broadcast, there were 611 total basket donations.  The donations continued throughout the football game that night.  Donations have also been continuing since then. Although the radiothon is over, the need remains. Anyone wanting to make a late donation can do so at the Mission.

The baskets will be distributed during the holiday season to families in need in the community. Each basket will contain a turkey or ham, stuffing, potatoes, vegetables, bread, and dessert.

Plans are already underway for the 2022 Radiothon.

"We want to say thank you to everyone that made the radiothon a success," said WLBQ's Diane Dyer.  We are blessed and humbled to have the support of our community."
