Coming Home
Sunday, August 3rd was the 209th homecoming of Monticello Baptist Church. Congregation member Tommy Franklin introduced the singer for the morning, gospel vocalist Glen Rice. He peppered his set with standards as well as songs he has written. He also sang contemporary songs such as Josh Turner’s “Long Black Train” Vince Gill’s “Go Rest High On That Mountain” and the standard “I Thank God For The Lighthouse”.

Glen got understandably emotional during his performance of his song “I’ve Been Blessed”. hose in attendance that morning certainly were blessed. One of his final songs, “American Christian”, is a song he wrote about being a proud Christian as well as a proud American.

After the singing, Bro. Randy Burns brought the message to a packed house. After the message, ever travelled downstairs for a great potluck dinner of chicken, corn, mac and cheese and many other sides and desserts. Everyone had a great time of food and fellowship.
