"Sew Perfect" Opens In Morgantown

There is nothing more frustrating than ripping your favorite pair of pants or breaking a zipper and having to throw them away but now you won't have to. Sew Perfect, alterations and custom sewing will be opening on Main Street Tuesday, next to Five Seasons. Experienced seamstress Bettie Phelps can mend those favorite outfits, alter them if they are no longer fitting or she can make you a whole new outfit, adding that she has been making riding clothes for her grandaughters and even made her daughter's wedding dress. In addition to alterations and custom sewing she will be carrying a variety of specialty items, such as fabric curling iron covers, a great gift item for that traveler on your list, trash bag holders, purses, tie fleece blankets. crocheted scarves and other hand made items, including unusual scarves made of old t-shirts and beaded jewelry. With Christmas just around the corner, now is the time to get started shopping and Bettie will have plenty of stocking stuffers to choose from or can help you make an heirloom quilt.

With over 15 years experience sewing at Kanes and Kellwood, Bettie is an accomplished seamstress who can repair, alter or custom make any item you need.

She will be stock sewing supplies along with yarn, crochet hooks, knitting needles and other small notions and urges crafters to let her know what supplies they would like to see her add in the future. She said she would love to help local crafters be able to buy more supplies locally. Phelps told BTN that she hopes to add classes to her offerings in the near future, working with extension agent Tracy Cowles to help with quilting classes and hopes to offer sewing, crocheting and knitting classes.
