Embry to run for new 6th District Senate seat
Representative C. B. Embry Jr. has filed his "Letter of Intent" to run for the 6th District State Senate seat (Butler, Ohio, Muhlenberg and Hopkins Counties) in the 2014 elections.
"It will be a challenge but it appears to be doable. A lot of things can happen between now and the November elections in 2014. I will give it my best effort and we will see what develops. I will continue to serve as 17th District State Representative until December 31, 2014 and I will continue to serve the counties I have been elected to represent for the past 11 years," said Embry.
“Letters of Intent,” filed with the Kentucky Registry of Election Finance, allow prospective candidates to raise money and campaign for an office prior to the date, (November 6, 2013) they can officially file.
Senate Bill 169 says: "Letter of Intent" means notice filed with the registry on a form prescribed by the registry indicating that a person or persons intends to be a candidate or form a slate of candidates for a specific office and election prior to the date the person or persons can officially file for ballot access with the secretary of state or county clerk, as appropriate.”
According to the Kentucky Registry of Election Finance, if a person starts campaigning for office prior to November 6, 2013, then it is mandatory to file a “Letter of Intent.”
November 6, 2013 is the first date candidates can file for office and January 28, 2014 is the last day to file.
