Calhoun Completes Eagle Scout Project

Cody Calhoun completed his Eagle Scout project.

Cody Calhoun, of Boy Scout Troop 208 in Butler County, accomplished his Eagle Scout Project. Cody took on a memorial project for his community in Welch's Creek, Kentucky, on Saturday, July 27, 2013.  He has been planning this for a little over a year.  He wanted to do something for his community in Welch's Creek as well as his Church.  Troop 208 rose early Saturday morning and started working on this project.  They started at 7am and worked until the job was done at 1pm.  They worked very hard from tilling the ground, laying rock, building a memorial bench, setting the flag pole, and raising the most important flags in this country.

Cody is a student at Butler County High School.  He is in the Explorer program in Bowling Green, Kentucky, with the police department.  He loves to help his community and loves to give to other people.  Every Eagle Scout agrees to keep up the maintenance on his project for the rest of his life.  This is a lot of dedication for a young boy to commit to, but Troop 208 is filled with boys that love to help their communities and their families.  They are a very responsible and productive group of boys.

The memorial is for those who have served our country and our God.  Cody wanted to remember the Veterans who have kept our country free to believe in whatever they want to believe and for those who follow the love of Christ our Savior.

Troop 208 has been working really hard to accomplish their goals.  They are a great bunch of boys and try to achieve the highest ranks in scouting.  If you get a chance to come to the Cemetery at Chapel Union Missionary Baptist Church on Hwy 79 just take a minute to sit on the bench and enjoy what God has so freely given to each and every one of us.  Thank you Chapel Union Church and Welch's Creek for your participation in this project that means so much to all of us.

There will be many more Eagle Scout projects to come in the near future.  So, if you see a Boy Scout know that they are there to help.  Once again thank you for your support.
