Butler County 4-H Silver Spurs Horse Club Host "Fun Snow"

The Butler County 4-H Silver Spurs Horse Club hosted an open fun show at the Logan County Saddle Club on Saturday, October 15th to help raise funds for the upcoming 4H year. Despite the cool weather, a good crowd turned out and 125 entries were recorded.

Many classes were available including, a Costume Class, Lead Line Class, Open Halter, Youth Country and Western Pleasure, Open Country and Western Pleasure, Youth Poles and Barrels, and Open Poles and Barrels. Awards were given in each of the categories, along with cash prizes in the youth and open Country and Western Pleasure, Poles, and Barrels classes.

Sponsors for the “Fun Horse Show” included Green River Discount Tack, Jenkins Lawn Care Inc., Green River Feed Mill, Drakes Farm Service, Blaine’s Lawn and Landscaping, Cornerstone Vet Services, and Heritage Animal Hospital. The Butler County 4-H Silver Spurs Horse Club would like to thank all of the class sponsors and give a very big thank you to the Logan County Saddle Club for opening up their show grounds and allowing the youth of Butler County to host a show there. Without the support of the Logan County Saddle Club, none of this could have taken place and we are truly grateful for their hospitality.

Money earned from the show will go to support the Butler County Silver Spurs in the upcoming 2012 year with expenses incurred for horse judging, district and state horse shows, and any miscellaneous equipment needed for the youth.

The Butler County Silver Spurs participated in 4 judging events in 2011, and qualified 4 horse and rider teams to go on and compete at the State Horse Show held in Louisville, Kentucky. The group also participated in the Horse Camp that is held each year in April at the WKU Ag Expo Center.
