Butler wraps season with loss to Catholic
The Butler County boys' basketball season came to a close last week with a 69-55 loss to Owensboro Catholic in the first round of the Third Region Tournament at the Owensboro Sportscenter
Butler County (20-12) jumped to a quick 4-0 lead before the Aces came roaring back to take an 18-14 first-quarter lead. Both teams played even ball in the second quarter to give Catholic a 30-26 halftime lead.
The Aces broke the game open in the third quarter, outscoring the Bears 15 to 5. Catholic built on that lead early in the fourth quarter, holding a 24-point margin at one point. Butler narrowed the gap a bit late in the game before falling 69-55.
Trevor Jenkins led the Bears in scoring with 15 points. Alex Hall and Elijah Flener had ten apiece.
