Lady Bears 48 Lady Wildcats 52

The Butler County Lady Bears got their first district loss on Thursday night as they fell to Edmonson County 52-48.
Butler County came out ready to play and outscored the Lady Cats 14-11 in the first quarter.  They continued to work ahead and took a 16-11 lead in the second quarter.

Late in the second Edmonson County picked up the pace and their man to man defense caused problems for the Lady Bears.  The Lady Cats had a 15-3 run and took the lead but the Lady Bears answered with an 8-0 run and went to the locker room up 27-26 at half time.

Edmonson County’s Madison Rich scored 25 points for the Lady Cats and went 12 for 12 from the free throw line. Coach Ted Hill’s team was successful in working time off the clock by spreading their offense and holding on the ball.
Madeline Drake and Lynsie Clark knocked down 3’s to give the Lady Bears a 33-26 lead in the third.  Again Edmonson County answered and tied the score 33 all with 3:30 left in the quarter.

Butler County’s turnovers were costly resulting in 17 points for Edmonson County while the Lady Bears only connected on 5 of 13 shots from the free throw line.
