Morgantown man arrested, facing multiple charges
A local man has been arrested and is facing multiple charges following a July 3 incident in Morgantown.
According to the Morgantown Police Department (MPD), officers responded to a report of a man pointing a gun and pulling a knife on his neighbors .
Eyewitnesses state that Ryan Lee Smith, 48, of Morgantown, walked into his driveway possessing a handgun and knife and told him to “stop idling your truck or I’ll shoot you and it up.”
A search warrant later obtained by law enforcement officers led to the discovery of a loaded firearm and a knife. Smith is a convicted felon and cannot legally possess a firearm. Suspected methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia was also discovered.

Smith was arrested and transported to the Butler County Jail.
Smith is charged with first-degree wanton endangerment, third-degree terroristic threatening, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, first-degree possession of a controlled substance (first offense- methamphetamine) (enhancement) and drug paraphernalia buy/possess.
The investigation is ongoing.
