On Friday, July 3, community members and their four-legged companions gathered for the Green River Catfish Festival annual Dog Show, where contestants competed in several fun categories. The event drew plenty of smiles as judges recognized the day's top dogs.

Teddy, owned by Mary Beth Embry, took home the coveted Overall Best in Show award.

In the Best Dressed Dog category, Lulu, owned by Audrey Belcher, claimed first place (middle), followed by Miss Priss (Nikki Colter) in second (right), and Grizzly (Peanut and Evana Martin) in third (left).

(Pictured right to left) For Cutest Female Dog, Honey, owned by Porter Pendley, earned the top honor. Lulu (Audrey Belcher) placed second, while Miss Priss (Nikki Colter) took third.

(Pictured left to right) The Cutest Male Dog competition saw Teddy (Mary Beth Embry) add another first-place finish to his day, with Oreo (Thomas) earning second. Third place ended in a tie between Charlie (Billy McCann) and Grizzly (Peanut and Evana Martin).

Rounding out the awards, Oreo, owned by Thomas, won first place in the Best Tail Wagger category.

The dog show is sponsored by Amy Smith-Thomas and Osei Thomas of Elite Detailing & Pressure Washing. Three local businesses donated the prizes for the event: Friends of Butler County Animals provided dog beds, Heritage Animal Hospital supplied treats and toys and Northside Kennels gave bandannas and frisbees.

Butler County native and Miss Fountain Square Park, Conley Moore served as emcee. There were also several volunteers and other pageant queens on hand to help out. 

Coordinator Amy Smith-Thomas said “thank you to all our dog owners and sweet fur babies, volunteers, and judges. This event is always fun and a favorite for many. It takes a lot of planning and organizing, but it is worth it to see others smiling and having a great time with their dogs.”
