Local women's group recognizes BCHS grad as scholarship winner

The Butler County Democratic Woman's Club invites the community to their event honoring local high school graduate, Keegan Forbes.  Keegan is the recipient of the Democratic Woman's Club 2026 college scholarship award of $1000.  This event will take place Tuesday, June 9 at the Butler County Public Library in Morgantown.  Meet & Greet will start at 5:30 pm, with the meeting at 6 pm, where Keegan will receive her check and address the crowd.

Keegan is the 17-year-old daughter of Jerri and Andrew Forbes.  A graduate of Butler County High School, she dedicated herself to leadership, service, and student involvement.  She served as chair of social media for Jostens Renaissance Leadership, helping to contribute to a more positive school culture.  She was also class president for three years and Region 4, and chapter president for FCCLA.  Through these organizations, Keegan attended global leadership conferences, organized events, and encouraged students to become more involved in their school and community.  Her hard work and dedication earned her over $32,000 in scholarships.

Outside of school events, Keegan has worked at Flener's Boutique in Morgantown for nearly three years, where she gained valuable experience in customer service, communication, teamwork, and responsibility.  Her experiences in both leadership and the workplace have helped shape her passion for working with people and making a difference.

In the fall, Keegan plans to attend the University of Kentucky to major in Leadership for Community Education and Human Learning. She hopes to use her degree to advocate for stronger education funding and expanded Career and Technical Education programs while building a career centered around leadership, business, and community impact.

All are welcome to celebrate Keegan with us.  For more information, contact 270-993-8542 or 270-999-1832.
